DOCTOR KSENIA ILINYKH

Ksenia Ilinykh, born in Chelyabinsk, Russia, currently teaches piano at the Utah Valley University. She received a Doctorate degree in Piano Performance from the University of Colorado at Boulder. Her other academic studies include University of South Carolina, University of Utah, Ural State Conservatory and Ural State Pedagogical University. Her repertoire includes works from the traditional European canon, as well as works by Russian composers. Dr. Ilinykh’s current pedagogical research areas include elementary music by less unknown Russian and American composers; pre-K piano method and teaching tools; the influence of self-efficacy beliefs in piano students’ achievement; and the study of scales and harmonization learning strategies in the piano classroom. She has been a presenter at the Utah MTNA chapter, an avid judge of the local competitions including Salt Lake Piano Competition and the MTNA concerto competition, Utah chapter.

Dr. Ilinykh’s currect projects include recording of a CD of unknown female composers and regularly performing interactive piano music for families.
